Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Parking Lot

A pedestrian walking in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street was struck by a moving vehicle, which then drove off on the night of November 9, according to police.

Police said Anthony P. Baiad, Jr, 68, of 4 Budd Drive was pushing a shopping cart back from his vehicle to the CVS store, when “a small tan vehicle” struck him on the right leg and then drove away from the scene. Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 7:39 pm.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Baiad to Danbury Hospital for treatment of a right-knee injury, police said.

A Danbury Hospital spokeswoman would only acknowledge that Baiad was not a patient in the hospital on November 10.

Police ask anyone with information on the accident to contact them at 426-5841.
