U13 Strikers Capture CJSA U14 B Title

The Newtown Strikers may have been a 13-and-under club, but they stepped up an age group this fall and ended up capturing the CJSA Northwest District U14 B championship. The Strikers recorded wins over New Fairfield (8-1) and Goshen (7-1) last week.

Here are the results:

TRAVEL

Boys U13

Strikers 8, New Fairfield 1 – The Strikers captured the CJSA Northwest District U14B championship with an 8-1 win over New Fairfield. The Strikers, playing up a bracket, were led by Kyle Moore’s hat trick. Sam Grainger, Thomas Capozziello, Alex Miller, Kyle Wildman and Russell Morgan all scored goals while Daniel Lynch notched three assists. Michael Renz, Moore, Tony Vacaro and Aaron Nezvesky had one assist each. Daniel Hufziger played well.

Strikers 7, Goshen 1 – Daniel Lynch notched a hat trick as Thomas Capozziello, Kyle Moore, Michael Gould and Alex Miller added one goal apiece to lead the Strikers. Aaron Nezvesky, Michael Renz, Daniel Lynch and Capozziello recorded assists. Michael Carrafiello and Ryan Pasko played well.

Girls U12

Newtown 0, Danbury 0 – Nicole Davis and Nora Murphy played solid at forward in a draw with Danbury. Cristina Naldini and Christina Caporale played well in the midfield. Cassie Fallon, Brooke Leifels, and Abbie Keough played aggressive defense as Kendall Svanda and Stefanie Clavette shared the shutout at goal.

Newtown 4, Middlebury 3 – Ali Korchman scored twice to lead Newtown past Middlebury. Molly Mahony and Maddy Keane each had a goal as Meaghan Carney and Ale Fuentes notched assists. Nora Murphy, Jessica Jowdy and Christina Caporale played well as Leah Barrett, Catherine Scott and Cassie Fallon anchored the D.

Girls U11

Flash 7, Torrington 0 – Kelsey Karp scored two goals while Brittany Tolla, Stephanie Roman, Melissa Buccino, Meaghan Harkins and Kristen Grabowski all scored solo goals to lead the Flash. Grabowski and Tress Scott had assists.

Boys U11

Watertown 2, Cobras 1 – Ian Solaski scored the lone Newtown goal, assisted by Connor Quinn. Chris Erikson, Nick Gerbo, Christian Mather and Stephen Conway supported the offense as Peter Kerns, Danny Bittman and Sam Langdon paced the D.

Cobras 3, Brookfield 0 – Chris Erikson, Robert Willis (assisted by Nick Gerbo) and Connor Quinn (a rebound on an Eric Fiore shot) all scored to lead the Cobras. Nick Barreto, Peter Kerns, Pieter Martino and Patrick Thornberg anchored the D in front of goaltender Sean Elliot.

Boys U10

Watertown 2, Bombas 1 – Stefan Dullinger scored the only goal in the Bombas’ loss. Mustafa Sakhi and Jordan Sock had their best games of the season in midfield while Owen Gaston played strong through the defense.

Bombas 2, Newtown FC 0 – Sam Pliszka and Robert Linden each scored a goal to lead the Bombas. Connor Gallagher had a great performance in the midfield while Charlie Poarch had a clean sheet in the goal.

Girls U10

Weston 2, Jaguars 0 – Emily Grimes and Brooke Newton led the Jaguars’ offensive charge. Anna Northrop and Jamison Fletcher played awesome defense to keep the game close.

Danbury 2, Jaguars 1 – Angela Halili knocked in the Jaguars’ only goal. Shannon O’Gorman controlled the midfield and made runs into the box. The defense was led by the hustle of Ali Brazo and Tess Murray.

IN-HOUSE

Boys U14

Beverly Hillbillies 3, Knights 3 – Colin Cooper scored two goals and Jake Tolson added one to pace the Hillbillies. Carter Law with Dan O’Connor led the defense. For the Knights, George Delia, Tom Murphy and Brandon Body scored the goals while the defense was anchored by Brian White and Matt Williams. Dieter Gutbrod and Dimitrios Karamanos provided strong midfield support.

Girls U14

Hurricanes 1, Danbury 1 – Emily Audet scored the lone Newtown goal in a draw with Danbury. Samantha Whitley and Kyra Smith played well in goal with the support of sweeper Christie Iorfino. Anna Bermath and Elena Unschuld had solid performances.

Boys U10

Golden Toasters 4, Strikers 1 – Alex Roche scored two goals to lead the Toasters. Francis Saricini and Colin Dutt also scored as Matt Bara played a great game in the net. For the Strikers, Luca Imbimbo scored the only goal. Christian Madaus and Nicholas Snyder also contributed strong play on offense with Nicholas Klein playing his usual tenacious D.

Golden Toasters 4, Gators 1 – Francis Saraceni scored two goals while Colin Dutt and Alex Roche added one apiece to pace the Toasters. Patrick Afriyie had a nice game in net. For the Gators, Daniel Olszewski scored the goal as Devin DiNicola and Connor Roche put forth a solid offensive effort.

Orangutans 2, Gators 0 – Jonathan Schwartz and Yossi Kohrman-Glaser scored to lead the Orangutans to the win. Wesley Morlock was strong on offense and Mitchell Stewart played well in midfield. For the Gators, Conner Roche and Ryan Moyer played well in goal as Devin DiNicola and Bradley Kretz had solid performances.

Wild Boyz 3, Pulverizing Peanuts 2 – Fredrik Dean scored two goals while Tyler Coleman had one to lead the Boyz. Jonah McKeown and Tom Giarratano played well. For the Peanuts, Connor Anderson scored two goals as Thomas Primavera, Isaac Farrington, Alec Beauchemin, Garrett Cebry and Michael Marcinek all played well.

Average Joes 2, Strikers 0 – Connor Hanley and Tyler Hanley each scored a goal to lead the Joe’s. Shane Quimby played great on offense and Josh Schuette played well overall. For the Strikers, Michael Alicea played well on defense as David Kent was strong all around. Colin Moller was strong on both sides and Justin Weiner was great in the goal.

Girls U10

Raging Fire 2, Bulldogs 1 – Lindsay Jossick scored two goals to lead the Fire. Emily Sippin was super on offense while Lindsay Fuori was solid in midfield. Aileen Sheluck had a nice game on defense. For the ‘Dogs, Allison Kron and Hayley Naphen had great efforts on offense. Olivia Korth and Hayley Dunn did a fantastic job on defense.

Raging Fire 2, Shockers 1 – Lindsay Jossick and Libby DiDomizio each scored a goal to lead the Fire. Rachel Zambernardi was solid in goal with the support of sweeper Lindsay Fuori. For the Shockers, Alana Fridfertig scored the goal. Emily Papp played well as goalie. Emily Cannavo and Catherine Neave had solid performances.

Funkey Monkey 1, Funky Monkeys 0 – Kerry Scallon scored the lone goal of the game. Jenna Calandro was outstanding in goal as Maria Biondi, Jennifer Indelicato and Aspen Kraushaar played fine all-around games. For the Monkeys, Juliana Ciamarra and Michelle Zarifis played well in goal as Christie VosWinkel and Avery Black led the offense.

Shockers 1, Funky Monkeys 0 – Morgan Macchiarulo scored the only goal of the game. Emily Peters played well on offensive and Aoife Flanagan was outstanding in goal. For the Monkeys, Aspen Kraushaar provided stong offfensive support, Ashley Maturo was great in goal and Emily Brisson and Emily Albrecht were a force on defense.

Boys U8

Strikers 3, Badgers 0 – Lukas Palumbo tallied a goal and displayed sharp passing to lead the Strikers to victory. Jacob Branchflower and Matthew Pelisson played well up front to help while Mason Melillo was solid in the net. For the Badgers, Liam Kelly and Bobby Katrinak played strong on the wing with Liam McNichols playing a superb all around game. Chris Manfredi also pitched in with an inspired performance on offense.

Blue Dragons 4, Vikings 2 – Patrick Burger scored two goals and Carter Nordgern added one to lead the Dragons. Zachary Weilland and Charlie Fletcher were solid on D. For the Vikings, Sawyer Beckenbaur and Matt Maturo scored the goals while James Carney and Daniel McCarthy played excellent games at midfield.

Huskies 0, Tornadoes 0 – Andrew Mastrantoni, Connor Flint, Dawson Goodrich, and Grant Varnum led the Huskies as Ryan Marusi, Muhammad Sakhi and Hunter Booker powered the Tornadoes.

Girls U8

Ball Hogs 2, Cheetahs 0 – Julia Schoeni and Caitlin Filiato scored the goals that lifted the Hogs to the win. Callie Kraushaar and Taryn McCleary had strong performances. For the Cheetahs, Sarah Bender and Kathryn Blanco played well on offense as Megan Olszsewski and Callan Rafferty had solid efforts.

Cheetah Champions 4, Cheetahs 1 – Cassie Fletcher scored three goals and Anna Biondi added one to lead the Cheetah Champions to the win. Courtney Datin and Kayleigh Shambelan played excellent D while Morgan Daniels had a strong offense performance. Quinn Karp scored the lone Cheetah goal while Hanna Fitzgerald, Emma DeFlumeri and Kathryn Blanco played well.

Mustangs 5, Tigers 1 – Kelly Coughlin scored two goals while Lucy Helgren, Hannah Schneiderman and Jessica Keller tallied one goal apiece to lead the Mustangs. Keller also scored a goal for the Tigers, providing help in the second half to a team short a player. Sara Lampel and Hannah Hripak were tireless on offense for the Tigers while Catherine McHugh, Emma Burns and Olivia Holman played well.

Cheetah Champions 2, Munchkins 0 – Morgan Daniels and Cassie Fischer each scored a goal to lead the Cheetah Champions to the win. Kayleigh Shambelan and Hannah Grant played super D. For the Munchkins, Avery Higham and Haley Trudell were excellent on offense and defense. Danielle Agugliaro kept the pressure on offense while Emily Campbell had a great overall game.

All Stars 4, Soccerstars 1 – Casey Harkins, Stella Wetchler and Shelby Tolla scored goals to lead the All Stars. Emily Jerris and Maddie Bridges were strong on defense. For the Soccerstars, Grace Sandercox and Tessa Leon-Gambetta played fabulous on both defense and offense. Mikayla Kuligowski was awesome on the offense and Megan Weber had an excellent debut as goalie.

Racing Stripes 3, Chiwahwahs 0 – Emily Riley had a goal and two assists while Taylor LaFave had a pair of goals to lead the Stripes. Lauren Beier played very well on defense. Tonya and Alexis Tucker played great games. For the Chiwahwahs, Laura Beth Sullivan and Amy Pruner played solid offense while Noelle Veillette and Alyssa Ruefenacht played well on D.

Dolphins 3, Lady Hawks 0 – Kelsey Muniz scored two goals while Caitlyn Linden scored one goal to lead the Dolphins to the win. Emily Turco, Kirsten Yapp and Jesse Sailer played solid defense. For the Hawks, Rachel Lorenz, Brianna MacDonald, Ashley Marks and Madeleine Strokis all played great all around.

U6

Sharks 1, White Tigers 1 – Noah Laferriere scored the Sharkss lone goal. Bryan Lawrence played terrific defense. Michael Liberante scored for the White Tigers while Thomas Cotton had a fine offensive day.

Panthers 2, Team (#9) 2 – Evan Eggleston had a pair of goals to lead the Panthers. Max McCleary and Jessica Maturo played well on offense as Jillian Milano and RH Clark played stifling defense. For Team #9, Megan Goyda and Danny Gruber scored while Dylan Kretz played excellent defense, Amanda Solomon was solid in goal and Jack Wellman played strong offense.

Nighthawks 3, Cheetahs 0 – Matthew Bucci scored a pair of goals while Jackson Fletcher added one to lead the Nighthawks. Jenna Ciavara and Chris Mok also played well on offense while Ian Klepacki and Evan Kohlsaat played strong defense.

Fighting Irish 0, Blue Sharks 0 – Eddie Henderson and Isabella Luciano played outstanding in the goal for the Fighting Irish. Colin Keogler was a strong force on offense while Megan Kelleher helped to solidify the defense. For the Blue Sharks. Erin Nelson, Trane Kessler and Sophia Albano had great games as did Camryn Cicarelli, Shane and Nevin Gattey.
