Sponsored by Youth Services in Newtown (YSIN), the run was laid out along a testing course. Runners began at Newtown High School, went up steep Mile Hill Road, around Wildlife Road and then back down Mile Hill to the finish line at the school.

From the Farewell Speech of Rev J.L.R. Wyckoff: âI know the failures of my ministry far better than the most disparaging critic does, but I am bold enough to stand here this morning and appeal to you, dear friends, who have gathered here for many years, some of you, and to ask you whether or not you think I have tried in my ministry to keep true to the key note which Paul has so strongly struck in this text? Again, I ask you to continue your love and loyalty to this beloved church in the days that are to come, and to give your affection to your new pastor as you have given it to me.â
