Brennan John Merrick

Beloved Son

And Brother

Brennan J. Merrick, 13, beloved son of Brian and Wendy (Tobin) Merrick of Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital, November 9, following an accident at his home. Brennan was born in Danbury on July 4, 1995.

He was an eighth grade student at Newtown Middle School, where he was a homeroom representative to the student government and played trumpet in the school band. Brennan was a First Class Boy Scout with Troop 770. He enjoyed sports, playing baseball in the Newtown Babe Ruth League and Travel Teams, playing basketball in the Newtown Youth Basketball League, and swimming with the Newtown Torpedoes Swim Team.

Brennan was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church where he served as an altar server. He will be remembered as a kind and caring person. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Brennan is survived by his sister, Kelly; and his brother, Trevor; his maternal grandparents, John and Margaret Tobin; his paternal grandmother, Bernice Merrick; his aunts and uncles, Susan and Jack Almeida, Kenneth and Tricia Merrick, Kathleen and David Horvath, Brad and Andrea Tobin; and by his cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, November 13. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.

Funeral Arrangements were in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
