Exhibition Of Pavlovich McCarthy Oils & Watercolors
WOODBURY â Woodbury Antiques and Fine Art will present an exhibit of oils and watercolors by Marija Pavlovich McCarthy. The exhibit will open on Saturday, November 22, with a reception from 4 to 6 pm. The collection will then remain on view until December 6.
On Saturday, November 29, from 2 to 4 pm, the gallery will host a tea, lecture and conversation with the artist around her artworks.
Ms McCarthy is a life-long painter, educator and lecturer. She is an interpretive realist, painting the scenery whose beauty and character move her.
The Woodbury show will include oils based on her pencil sketches of the past winter during her walks in local woods, watercolors from her travels to France in 2007 and of the Charles River in Boston and oils and watercolors from the Connecticut seacoast and the beautiful town of Stonington.
As the spouse of an American diplomat, Ms Pavlovich McCarthy has lived and exhibited on four continents and her work exhibits her joys, challenges and love of painting the richness of her varied surroundings. In the US she has exhibited in Washington DC, New York City and Boston, and locally in Roxbury, Washington and Woodbury. She has had over 20 solo shows.
Art works by Marija Pavlovich McCarthy hang in the New Britain Museum of American Art, The National Museum of Belgrade, Serbia, as well as in Presidential Collections in Pakistan and Palestine. Her paintings are owned by hundreds of corporate and private collectors.
Ms Pavlovich McCarthy has taught at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC, Maryland School of Art and Design, and currently teaches a landscape painting class at Washington Art Association in Washington Depot.
Woodbury Antiques and Fine Art is at 473 Main Street South in Woodbury. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 5 pm, and Sunday from 2 to 5 pm.
