Repair Blitz Deadline Approaching
The AmeriCares HomeFront program makes quality of life home repairs for income-qualified homeowners who are either physically or financially unable to make the repairs themselves. Senior citizens, single parent households, disabled homeowners, and financially strapped families have all benefited from previous HomeFront Day Repair Blitzes.
The repairs are completed by volunteers at no cost to the homeowner.
The next HomeFront Day Repair Blitz is scheduled for May 2. The deadline for homeowners to apply for consideration is November 30.
Each year thousands of volunteers provide free home repairs to single-family homes and community centers. Multifamily homes also may be eligible. The total annual income of the household is HomeFrontâs primary guideline. HomeFront considers homeowners with annual household incomes of $35,000 or less.
Please note condominiums, co-ops. and mobile homes are not eligible for this program.
Program staff and volunteers work hand-in-hand with homeowners to provide those repairs that will be the most meaningful to them and have the greatest impact on their quality of life. Each team is led by a trained volunteer.
Repairs may include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, roofing, drywall, weatherproofing, window and door replacement, wheel chair ramps, installation of smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, painting, cleaning, and yard work. Â
HomeFront volunteers are ready to work on 100 homes across Fairfield, Hartford, New Haven and Westchester Counties at no cost to qualified homeowners next spring.
