Virginia L. Burroughs, 77, beloved wife of Lester R. Burroughs of Newtown, died at her home on November 6, after a long illness. She was born in Trenton, Mich., on July 7, 1931, a daughter of Everett and Virgie (Ledford) Lagers.

Mrs Burroughs was a resident of Newtown for the past 56 years and was a member of Newtown Congregational Church. She previously worked as a salesperson at the former Read’s and Jordan Marsh Department Stores.

In addition to her husband, Mrs Burroughs is survived by her six children; ten grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Private funeral services and interment in Newtown Village Cemetery will be held at the direction of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, Newtown 06470.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown.
