Newtown’s eighth grade football team won the Shoreline Youth Football Conference Bowl Series game by defeating the host Southington Blue Knights 31-14 on November 9.

Kellan Kane raced in for an early touchdown, with Noah Champagne adding the extra point, and the Nighthawk defense immediately set the tone. Spencer Hull, Bryce Lowe, Raider Fuentes, Zander Sala, and Hugo Bojorquez forced multiple turnovers on downs, helping Newtown pull ahead.

Quarterback Ian Sachs connected with Reed Sgagliardich and later Gavin Leonard for touchdowns, with Fuentes contributing a conversion, stretching the lead to 31-6. Running backs Jack Soltis, Devin Santacroce, and Will Yeager kept the offense moving, while the defense repeatedly stymied the Knights’ attempts to respond.

The Blue Knights added a late touchdown to make it 31-14, but the Nighthawks’ dominance was clear. The game ended prematurely after a dispute over the clock led to on-field tensions, but Newtown left Southington as champions, capping a commanding playoff performance.
