Adds Lions Club To Its Donor List
The Newtown Lions Club has made a $500 contribution in the school childrenâs efforts to raise money to assist in the nationâs hurricane relief efforts.
A benefit concert themed âNew Orleans Night of Jazzâ is slated Monday, November 21, at 7 pm, at the Reed Intermediate School will feature the Newtown Middle School Jazz Ensemble, Newtown High School Jazz Combo, Judson Jazz, and pianist Christopher Lee.
The Reed Intermediate School cafetorium will be transformed into a cabaret that will feature ragtime, jazz, and big band music. Dessert and coffee â compliments of NHS culinary students â will be served by students from the middle school and high school Interact Clubs.
Donations have been received from many local businesses and service organizations, including Newtown Savings Bank, South Main Pizza, Exxon Gas Station, Dr Henry Gellert, Big Y, Newtown Graphics, and the Lions and Rotary Clubs of Newtown.
Tickets and sponsorship for the event are still available and can be obtained by calling 426-7644 (NMS Guidance Department). Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. All proceeds will go directly to AmeriCares designated as âHurricane Relief in the Gulf Region.â
