Persian Gulf War Memorial

To the Editor:

The Persian Gulf War Memorial Committee has been devoting a lot of time, effort, and heart to creating a Memorial Plaque for the Newtown men and women who fought in the Persian Gulf War — we believe this is an important and fitting addition to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument area at the head of Main Street. We have attended a recent borough meeting and we are happy to report that they support our effort to be located at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.

At this point in time, we have gathered a list of names of Newtowners that we are sure should be included on the plaque but we want to double check and triple check to make certain that our list is all-inclusive. We are looking for confirmation for the following names: Bill Evans, Larry Fischer, Brian Wade (Banks), Kenneth Godfrey, David Giovanetti, Stephen Hannah, Robert Knapp, Robert Killing, John Klewicki, Wayne Kobrack, John Kepler, Brian Leavitt, Michael Lynch, Jimmy Mead, Sean Mulvany, Donald Sturges, Brian Hayward, John Joseph Swart, Marjorie Stephenson, and Darrick Waller. Proof of residence would be a DD214 form and proof of a commemorative medal or service ribbon.

If anyone has confirming information on these people or any other people who served in this conflict, please call me at 426-9582 or write to me at 26 South Main Street, Newtown. Thank you so much.

Sincerely yours,

Michael Hurley
