Pig Replica Purloined

Police are seeking information from the public on the possible whereabouts of a piece of lawn furniture that was apparently stolen late last month from a yard on Baldwin Road.

Missing is a five-foot-long metal bench that is shaped like a pig. Anyone with information on the object’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at 426-5841.

Equinox/Tacoma

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Queen Street and Glover Avenue about 5:50 pm November 10.

Motorist Michael Klubeck, 29, of Fort Smith, Mont., who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox sport-utility vehicle, was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Glover Avenue and was waiting to turn left onto northbound Queen Street.

At that time, motorist Todd Bolmer, 20, of 31 Swamp Road was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck southward on Queen Street.

As the Chevrolet entered the intersection to make the left turn, the vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Klubeck for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.

Moving Violations

About 10 am on November 10 on Main Street, police stopped motorist Alexander Rotas, 20, of 1 Pine Tree Hill Road for not properly displaying the marker plates on the vehicle that Rotas was driving.

On investigating, police charged Rotas with failure to properly display marker plates and with driving while under suspension. Police released Rotas on $100 bail for a December 1 court appearance.

Keys Found

On November 6, police received for safekeeping a set of four keys that were found lying on Blue Spruce Drive, near Bear Hills Road. One of the keys is for a Mercedes-Benz auto. The keys’ owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station, telephone 426-5841, to claim the keys.

Motor Vehicle Offenses

Police report they stopped motorist Lawrence Powers, 50, of Redding about 5:40 pm November 12 on Key Rock Road for making a restricted turn from Route 302 onto Key Rock Road. On investigating, police learned that there was an outstanding arrest warrant out on Powers regarding a previous driving violation.

Police said they charged Powers with second-degree failure to appear in court, driving while under suspension, and failure to wear a seatbelt. After posting $500 bail, police released Powers for a November 29 court appearance.

South Main Accident

Motorist Edward Pettway, 51, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2004 Chrysler Sebring southward on South Main Street near Simm Lane about 11 pm November 11, stopped in a line of traffic and was then struck from behind by Robert Forst, 61, of Babylon, N.Y., who was driving a 2001 Dodge van, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Forst a written warning for traveling at an unsafe distance.

Intersection Collision

About 10:12 am November 12, motorist Coralee Benson, 48, of 8 Old Farm Hill Road, who was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry, was attempting to make a left turn from Barnabas Road onto Tunnel Road, police said. At that time, motorist Laura Wray, 38, of 38 Tunnel Road was driving a 1996 Audi A-6 southward on Tunnel Road, police said.

As the Toyota was making the turn, the two vehicles collided. Both drivers were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, according to police. Police said they are investigating the collision.

Kia Vs Ford

About 2:30 pm on October 30, motorist Danielle Pappas, 26, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1998 Ford van, was involved in a motor vehicle accident and was parked on northbound South Main Street, near Bear Hills Road, police said.

Northbound motorist Sharon Y. Austin Christy, 41, of Stratford, who was driving a 2005 Kia Sedona, then struck the rear end of the parked Ford, police report.

There were no injuries. Police gave Christy a written warning for traveling at an unsafe distance.

 

Hawleyville Crash

Motorist Natasha Raymond, 34, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, was traveling westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 1:49 pm November 3, as motorist Patrick A. Lamparelli, Jr, 41, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck, was traveling eastward there, police report.

The Volkswagen then attempted to turn left onto Taunton Lane, but collided with the Dodge, police said. There were no injuries. Police gave Raymond an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

 

Chevrolet Vs Ford

About 1:50 pm on November 5, motorist Michelle Dunn, 17, of 30 Pearl Street, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Venture, was pulling out of the driveway at 111 Church Hill Road, when she collided with motorist Bruno Telesca, 32, of 40 Farm Field Ridge Road, who was driving a 1965 Ford Mustang westward on Church Hill Road, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Dunn a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Railroad Overpass

Police report a two-vehicle accident beneath the Housatonic Railroad’s Botsford Hill Road railroad overpass at about 5:20 pm November 9.

Motorist Mary Larson, 44, of 9 Turkey Roost Road, who was driving a 1997 Ford Escort southward on Botsford Hill Road, drifted to the left while negotiating a curve in the road beneath the overpass, police said. The Ford sideswiped motorist Patricia McDonald, 46, of 11 Fox Hollow Lane, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-350 pickup truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Larson a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Four-Way Stop

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the four-way stop intersection of The Boulevard and Schoolhouse Hill Road at about 1 pm on November 11.

Motorist Diane Day, 43, of 2 Crow’s Nest Lane, who was driving a Ford minivan eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign at the intersection and then proceeded into the intersection, police said.

Motorist Michael Panasci, 27, of Cheshire, who was driving a Ford sport-utility vehicle southward on The Boulevard, went through the intersection without stopping at a stop sign and collided with the minivan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Panasci an infraction ticket for a stop sign violation.

DUI Arrest

About 2:30 am on November 12, police responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident near 201 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook in which the vehicle had crashed into some guardrailing.

Police said that after investigating, they charged motorist Margaret Tinsley, 46, of Roxbury with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. There were no injuries, police said.

After processing, police released Tinsley on $200 bail for a November 29 court appearance.

Pickup Truck Accident

Motorist Carlos DaSilva, 25, of Norwalk was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 10:30 pm October 14, when DaSilva drove to the right and struck some curbing and a residential mailbox, damaging the mailbox, police report.

DaSilva then parked the damaged truck on Johnnie Cake Lane, police said. The truck’s right-side tires and exterior rear-view mirror were damaged in the crash, police report. There were no injuries.

After investigating, police charged DaSilva with evading responsibility and with making a restricted turn.

Moving Violations

Police said they stopped motorist Lucio DeSouza, 38, of Danbury at about 8 pm November 15 for driving with his high-beam headlamps on while traveling behind other motorists on Mile Hill Road.

After investigating, police charged him with improper use of high-beam headlamps and with driving while under suspension. Police released him on $100 bail for a December 1 court appearance.

Warrant Arrest

Police report they charged David Kaza, 23, of 4 Clearview Drive on a warrant on November 15, listing charges of second degree failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, and making a restricted turn. The motor vehicle charges stem from incidents earlier this year. Police released Kaza on $10,000 bail for a November 29 court appearance.

Motor Vehicle Charges

On November 15, police stopped motorist Dominic Calandruccio, 63, of 49 Appleblossom Lane to investigate and charged him with an automotive lighting violation and with driving while under suspension. Police released Calandruccio on a promise to appear in court on November 29.
