Rebecca ‘Becky’ (Boyd) Oberg

Longtime Member of Newtown Methodist Church

Rebecca “Becky” (Boyd) Oberg, 98, of Newtown died November 15 in River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury. Mrs Oberg was the wife of the late Carl S. Oberg.

She was born in Lincoln, R.I., on May 28, 1907, a daughter of William and Agnes (Muirhead) Boyd. Mrs Oberg was a longtime member of the Newtown Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Granniss and Gerri Cornell and her husband, Kent, all of Hayes, Va.; a son, Richard Oberg and his wife, Joan, of Brookfield; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Strobel of Easton; a brother-in-law, Leonard Oberg of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Charles Strobel II of Huntington, Bunny Cash of Hayes, Va., Darren Granniss of Apex, N.C., Carl Oberg and his wife, Patti, of New Milford, Randall Oberg of Sandy Hook, Rebecca Slattery and her husband, William, of Achilles, Va., Tracy Kean and her husband, Brian, of Newtown, and David Cornell of Bethel. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs Oberg was predeceased by two sons, Charles and Donald Strobel; a great-grandchild, and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, November 19, in the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road, Sandy Hook. There are no calling hours.
