Best Year Yet For The Pumpkin Challenge
To the Editor:
Newtown, you are amazing. The Great Pumpkin Challenge had its best year yet. You carved 172 jack-o-lanterns and we raised $4,610 for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Paul Newman’s summer camp for children battling illness.
I am so proud of our town for embracing this crazy idea, but we couldn't have done it without the support from Castle Hill Farm, Mason’s Farm Market, the Newtown Lions Club, Scot Haney, Sandy Hook Diner, Taylor Rental, Hearts of Hope, the Newtown government and departments, The Newtown Bee, local Scout troops, pumpkin carving parties, church groups, my family, classmates, teachers, and trick-or-treaters. And thank you to everyone who carved a pumpkin, I hope you had as much fun as we did.
Like I’ve said from the beginning, we can change the world, one pumpkin at a time. Way to go Newtown!
Thank you,
Mackenzie Page
