Winterset Ski Club Holds Annual Raffle Night

The Winterset Ski Club held its annual Raffle Night fundraiser on Friday, November 14. More than 150 club members attended the function, which was held at the Edmond Town Hall auditorium.

Raffle night is the club’s only fundraiser; it helps to supplement day bus trips, weekend trips, weeklong trips, and racing clinics throughout the year. More than 30 lift tickets were given away to mountains such as Bromley, Mt Snow, Cannon, Catamount, Mohawk, Butternut, SugarBush, Sugarloaf, Okemo, and Ascutney as well as gift certificates, tune-ups, and ski paraphernalia.

A ski package consisting of a pair of Rossignol skis, bindings, and ski poles was the main prize, which was won by Mike Vanasse, who is the club’s Connecticut Ski Council delegate.

Ben Shaw, sales ambassador from Okemo Mountain was on hand to report on Okemo’s plans for the upcoming ski season and describe its new Jackson Gore Peak trails. In addition, trip coordinators for each planned trip handed out information about their upcoming trips for this year: SugarBush, Lake Louise/Banff, Okemo, Loon Mountain, On-Snow Carnival, Magag, Canada, and Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine.

Members used the evening to pick up their new membership cards and bulk buy tickets that had been purchased for this year. The club, as a member of the Connecticut Ski Council, can purchase lift tickets from many mountains at greatly discounted rates and offer them to their members, another great reason to belong.

Winterset also held a silent auction for a weekend at Okemo mountain that was won by a family of four who have been members for three years. Anyone interested in more information on the club can view www.wintersetskiclub.org or email info@wintersetskiclub.org.
