To Host Tellebration! Event
DANBURY â Danbury Public Library will host Danburyâs third annual Tellabration! storytelling event with âFolktales from Around the Worldâ on Saturday, November 22, from 1 to 2:30 pm. Local storytellers will perform, along with professional storyteller Michael Parent.  Joel Levitt, coordinator of arts for Danbury Public Schools, will again emcee this yearâs event. Â
Mr Parent, a resident of Maine, has been a storyteller since 1977. Â He is the 1999 recipient of the National Storytelling Networkâs Circle of Excellence Award and has been featured at events throughout the U.S., Canada, France, Ireland, and England.
Tellabration! is traditionally observed at sites around the world on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Â The first Tellabration! was launched in Connecticut twenty years ago by Connecticut-based and nationally known storyteller J.G. âPaw-Pawâ Pinkerton.
This yearâs event is again being coordinated by Danbury resident and storyteller Bert MacCarry. Ms MacCarry has recently conducted two storytelling workshops, funded by Danbury Cultural Commission, to cultivate the storytelling talents of Danbury-area residents. Â
The November 22 program is open to story lovers of all ages and it is free of charge. Â Refreshments will be available.
