Flock To Tweeter Before Gift Cards Expire
HARTFORD â Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced that Tweeter has agreed to a request by his office and other state attorneys general that the store continue redeeming gift cards through all store closing sales.
The closing sales will last no longer than December 31, but could end earlier. Tweeter, a consumer electronics chain, was originally to stop redeeming the cards November 15.
Tweeter, with stores in Danbury, Avon, Newington, and the Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester, filed for bankruptcy on November 5.
âTodayâs ruling is rightful reprieve for Tweeter gift card holders, who can now redeem them until its closing sales are over,â Mr Blumenthal said. âThis decision gives consumers more time to use their cards for merchandise, assuring they receive full face value. I am pleased that my office in concert with other state attorneys general was able to win this well-deserved reprieve so consumers have time to use their cards.â
The US Bankruptcy Court in Delaware granted the request by Blumenthal and other attorneys general to extend the deadline for the cardsâ use November 14.
