Jill Swiatowicz

and Derek Bonnett

Announcement is made of the engagement between Jill Michelle Swiatowicz, daughter of Elizabeth and John Swiatowicz of Sandy Hook, and Derek Arthur Bonnett, son of JoAnne Bonnett of Pawtucket, R.I.

The two met and began dating in March 2005. According to Jill, “Derek proposed in Newport, R.I., in May of this year and I haven’t stopped smiling since!” A July 2009 wedding is being planned.

The couple owns a home in the Bunker Hill section of Waterbury, where they live with their two dachshund pups.

Jill is a 1997 graduate of Newtown High School. She is also a graduate of Roger Williams University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in creative writing while minoring in marketing, with a concentration in theater.

She is a senior network manager for Greenfield Online.

Derek is a 1995 graduate of Rockville High School. He later earned a bachelor of science from Southern Connecticut State University and a master of arts in liberal studies from Wesleyan University. He is a teacher at Crosby High School in Waterbury.
