Toyota Vs Deer
Motorist Barbara Buckalew, 66, of Southbury was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry eastbound on Mile Hill Road about 5:40 pm November 23 when a deer ran out from the westbound road shoulder and collided with the Toyota, police said. Ms Buckalew was not injured, police said. No enforcement action was taken.
Hattertown Rollover
Police report motorist Brian T. McGovern, 18, of 40 Saw Mill Road, who was driving a Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Hattertown Road about 6:15 pm November 20, told them he was blinded by the headlights of an oncoming vehicle, went into a skid, struck a guardrail, rolled over, and struck a utility pole.
McGovern was not injured, police said. Police issued him an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn. Dodgingtown firefighters and the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the scene.
Rear-Ender
Police report motorist James E. Weber, 33, of Southbury, who was driving a 1984 Ford F-250 pickup truck eastbound on Church Hill Road near Interstate 84, was stopped at a red light when he was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Mary A. McFeeley, 57, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 1984 Toyota Corolla. There were no injuries. Police issued McFeeley a written warning for following too closely.
South Main Street
Police said motorist Magnus John Berg, 16, of 5 John Beach Road, who was driving a 1984 Oldsmobile Firenza about 3 pm November 23, pulled out of Elm Drive and attempted to turn left onto South Main Street, when he sideswiped motorist Margaret D. Gilroy, 33, of 3 Pomperaug Avenue, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1989 Volvo 744-GLE southbound on South Main Street. There were no injuries, police said.
Police issued Berg a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
