Garner Death Continues

State police this week continued their investigation into the death of a Garner Correctional Institution inmate who died following a fight with another inmate November 17 in the high security prison on Nunnawauk Road.
State Department of Correction spokeswoman Christina Police confirmed Wednesday that the state police probe into the death of inmate Bryant Wiseman, 28, of Hartford, is proceeding.
State police Sergeant Paul Vance said it is too early in the police investigation to conclusively explain the death of Wiseman.
Wiseman received emergency medical care at the prison and was transported by ambulance to the Danbury Hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead about 2 pm November 17 following an altercation with an unidentified inmate. Three correction officers were injured in the incident.
A spokeswoman for the medical examinerâs office said Monday the autopsy performed on Wiseman was inconclusive. Toxicology testing will be performed to establish the cause and manner of death, she said. Those test results are expected no earlier than the second half of December.
Wiseman was serving a 10-year sentence for convictions on charges of criminal attempt to commit first-degree arson and second-degree arson.
