Special 'Madagascar' Preview At ETH Theatre, Tuesday
Local fans of the animated Madagascar series will have a 24-hour sneak peek at the next big screen installment, Penguins of Madagascar.
Edmond Town Hall’s Theatre will host two special screenings on Tuesday, November 25. The film is scheduled for its wide release the following day.
According to the ETH Facebook page, both of the screenings — scheduled for 5 and 7:15 pm — are free of charge, “but seating is limited. Free tickets will be available only in our box office starting at 10 am Monday, November 24.”
There were, according to Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers member Andy Clure, a number of people waiting in line when the box office opened this morning.
“We had 40 people in line at that hour,” Mr Clure said Monday afternoon, “and there has been a steady stream of people since.”
By 1:45, there were 225 tickets still remaining for Tuesday’s early show, and 100 tickets left for the second show, according to Mr Clure. The theater has 475 seats available for moviegoers.
The tickets give-away will continue on Tuesday, until all tickets are given away or each screening begins.
The movie reunites Skipper (voiced by Tom McGrath), Kowalski (Chris Miller), Rico (Conrad Vernon) and Private (Christopher Knights) from previous Madagascar adventures on both the big screen and television.
“It’s penguin mania,” the Facebook post continues, “when ‘the elitist of the elite’ join forces with the North Wind, a secret interspecies task force, to stop the nefarious Dr Octavius Brine’s plan for world domination in this bird-brained animated comedy from 20th Century Fox.”
The film, which is rated PG and has a running time of 92 minutes, also features the vocal talents of John Malkovitch, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keon Jeonh, Annet Mahendru and Andy Richter, among others.
Mr Clure was one of the organizers of Sandy Hook Arcade Center last year, which offered a temporary arcade set up in an empty storefront within Sand Hill Plaza. It was through some of his friends that this week’s special screening was made possible.
“We appreciate these people doing this for us,” Mr Clure said, speaking for his fellow ETH board members. “It’s very nice of them. We cannot thank them enough.”
Edmond Town Hall is at 45 Main Street.
