*As ticket holders get ready to head up to Mohegan Sun Arena this weekend for BON JOVIâs concert, those who missed out on this show (or diehards who want to see JBJ and band again) can plan on purchasing tickets for a February show at the same venue.
Tickets will be going on sale Saturday, November 26 (the morning of the current show) for a return engagement on Wednesday, February 1. Those tickets, priced at $95, $135 and $150, will be available only through TicketMaster over the weekend. If any seats remain unsold by Monday, November 28, remaining tickets will be available at the Mohegan Sun box office. This weekendâs show sold out in just minutes when it went on sale a few months ago.
*LUCY KAPLANSKY will be at the University of Hartfordâs Wilde Auditorium on Friday, December 2, at 7:30 pm. The concert is part of the universityâs Music for Change series, and the show will start with an opening set by David Roth.
Tickets are $18, and the box office can be reached at 860-768-4228 or 800-274-8587. The auditorium is within the universityâs Harry Jack Gray Center.
Kaplanskyâs first album, The Tide, which had been out of print, was re-released last month by Red House Records (an awesome label if ever there was one).
The remastered version of the 1994 album includes two additional studio tracks, Jesse Winchesterâs âEverybody Knows But Meâ and The Beatlesâ âIâve Just Seen A Face,â and an updated packaging. The album was originally produced by Shawn Colvin.
The universityâs Music For Change series was launched by UH radio station WWUH (91.3 FM) in the spring of 2000 to raise funds for greater Hartford charities and non-profit organizations working to improve the lives of Connecticut residents. Performers who have already helped the university raise thousands of dollars for this effort include Wynton Marsalis, Art Garfunkel, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Shawn Colvin, Richie Havens, Jonathan Edwards, and Aztec Two-Step.
Proceeds from next Fridayâs concert will benefit The Brain Injury Association of Connecticut.
This will be at least the second Music for Change concert Kaplansky has done. In February she played a concert that raised money for Hartford Food System.
During December the Music for Change series will continue for three weeks. ELLIS PAUL, with Antje Duvekot, will headline on December 9, and then GEORGE WINSTON will headline on December 16.
The next concerts in the series wonât be until March, but for planning ahead, those shows include JONATHAN EDWARDS on March 17, and then AZTEC TWO-STEP with DAVE STRUMFELD on May 5. Tentative shows include James Keelaghan on April 28 and Eddie From Ohio on May 19.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
