Bruckman To Lead Landscape Demo For SCAN
Bruckman To Lead Landscape Demo For SCAN
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Frank Bruckman painting an oil landscape at its next meeting, on Wednesday, November 30, at 1:30 pm.
The demonstration will take place in the lower meeting room at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). Non-members are welcome, free of charge.
Mr Bruckman lives and paints in Westville Village in New Haven.
After graduating from art school in the states, he spent several years in Paris and Madrid copying the masters in the great museums in Europe. While abroad he immersed himself in the local cultures by learning their language and painting landscapes of the countryside and cityscapes. Working as a model in Paris and painting throughout the city of lights, he developed further as an artist, resulting in several group shows and some one-person exhibitions in Paris and Spain.
What began as a brief visit to Connecticut in 1990 became a permanent relocation for Mr Bruckman once he discovered that there was endless painting material on the Connecticut shoreline. In an effort to paint with other artists he hosted Friday night portrait sessions in his tiny studio in South Norwalk.
Whether setting up his easel on the beach, painting portraits, taking off to Mexico or Europe for a landscape painting trip, or composing a still life in his studio, one can see a man who is dedicated principally to the art of painting and living.
Also on November 20, SCAN will sponsor a life drawing session with a professional model at the meeting house. That program will run from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm, and is also open to members and non-member alike. There is a $7 fee for the drawing session.
