Tercentennial Events

November 26 — On-sale date for Newtown 2005, The Way We Are After 300 Years, 10 am, Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road, hardcover book selling for $25 will feature photographs by 24 Newtown photographers will feature events of past year, favorite landscapes, people at work and play, etc.; photographers will be on hand to autograph copies.

December 2 — Tercentennial Tree Lighting, Town’s Christmas Tree at Hawley Pond, Elm Drive at Hawley Road, 7 pm, caroling will lead into lighting of tree by Tercentennial Committee Chairman Dan Cruson, then visits with Santa and Mrs Claus and light refreshments will continue event.

December 4 — “Celebrating Newtown’s Historic Families,” at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, 11 am to 4 pm, family histories and memorabilia will highlight some of the people and families who have helped shape and develop Newtown; 426-2607, 426-3651.

Through December 31 — Images from Newtown Historical Images Archive on view at Koenig FrameWorks, 97 South Main Street (in South Main Marketplace), Monday–Friday 9 am to 6 pm; Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm, 46 fine art giclée prints depicting Newtown scenes from the 1880s to 1950s, including ten on view for first time, most prints available for purchase (proceeds benefit Newtown Historical Society); 270-1887.
