Most recently I have been concentrating on giving Rapunzel and Red Riding Hood new lives, lives where they arenât saved or distracted by the handsome prince or the big bad wolf. Instead, they grow overgrown tulips, hang dresses on their clotheslines, and build houses in the trees.â
Ms McDougall recently won first place at the Three Rivers Arts Festival Sculpture Juried Show. Her work has been juried into exhibitions by Elizabeth Sussman, curator at Whitney Museum of American Art; Richard Vine, editor of Art in America; Judy Chicago, Phillip Pearlstein, and Judy Pfaff.
She currently teaches art at Sacred Heart University, Storm King Art Center and The Mattatuck Museum. She has been a master teaching artist by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts for the past four years.
Ms McDougallâs sculptures and drawings can also be seen during the month of December or January at Watermark/Cargo Gallery in Kingston, N.Y.; Beaux Arts Gallery in Woodbury; John Slade Ely House Gallery in New Haven; and The Exhibition Café at The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury.
