Mercedes Vs Ford

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 2 pm on November 20 on South Main Street, north of its intersection with Lovell’s Lane.

Police report that motorist Denise Papp, 43, of New Milford, who was driving a 2005 Ford Escape SUV southward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Albert Sampley, 90, of 3 Cedar Hill Road, who was driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-320 sedan.

There were no injuries. Sampley received a written warning for following too closely, according to police.

Sugar Street Crash

At about 7:13 am on November 12, motorist Laurel Butler, 54, of 6 Karen Boulevard, who was driving a 2007 Volvo XC-90 SUV eastward, stopped for traffic near 11 Sugar Street and was then struck from behind by motorist Brandon Wilson, 30, of Bethel, who was driving a 2000 Audi A-4 sedan, police report.

There were no injuries. Wilson received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Main Street Accident

Police said that at about 8:34 am on November 20, motorist Barbara Grasso, 46, of 19 Ridge Road was driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander SUV northward near 40 Main Street, when the Toyota was struck by a 2011 Jeep Liberty SUV that was pulling out of a driveway, police report. Motorist Abigail Kende, 68, of 141 Poverty Hollow Road was driving the Jeep, according to police.

There were no injuries. Kende received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

Rollover

Motorist Joe Coelho, 45, of 1 Stone Bridge Trail, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westward on a wet Berkshire Road, near Sherman Street, about 7:10 am on November 18, attempted to stop for a stopped vehicle in the westbound lane by braking, but went into a skid and then turned to the right to avoid a collision, but struck some curbing, police said.

The truck then climbed an embankment, struck a rock, and rolled onto its left side, police said.

Coelho was not injured. Police said they issued Coelho a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Motorcycle

Police report an accident involving a motorcycle and a sedan about 1:50 pm on November 10 near 98 Berkshire Road.

Motorcyclist Scott Westberg, 21, of Milford, who was riding a 2006 Kawasaki 2X600 northward on Berkshire Road, lost control of the vehicle and laid down the motorcycle on its right side but began sliding across the pavement, police said.

At that time, motorist Lauren Cordo, 62, of 6 Osborne Hill Road Extension was driving a 1995 Dodge Intrepid sedan southward, police said.

The motorcycle slid into the left rear tire of the Dodge and punctured that tire, police said. The motorcycle then stopped sliding on the road shoulder, near some guardrailing, police said.

Westberg, who was wearing a helmet and other protective gear, was not injured, police said. Police issued Westberg a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Ring Found

Police learned at about 12:40 pm on November 24 that a man’s wedding ring had been found in the skate park area at Dickinson Park, 50 Elm Drive. The owner may claim the ring by contacting Officer Bart Lorancaitis at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

DUI Charge

Police said they received a report that an auto had veered off Pole Bridge Road, north of its intersection with Philo Curtis Road, at about 3:47 am on November 23, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they learned that motorist Eve Lisbin, 30, of Oxford had been driving a 2002 Volkswagen Passat sedan that went off the road and got stuck atop some curbing.

Police said they charged Lisbin with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. After processing, Lisbin was released on $100 bail for a December 10 court appearance.

Sandy Hook Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Toddy Hill Road about 11 am on November 22.

In that incident, a 2007 Honda Pilot SUV driven by Amada Monaco, 56, of 1 Becket Village was struck from behind by a 2008 Dodge Avenger sedan driven by Cindy Sherwood, 56, of Carmel, N.Y., police report.

Roads were wet at the time of the collision, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Sherwood a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Two Charges

Police report that they stopped motorist Thomas Mukon, 26, of Woodbury near 151 Mt Pleasant Road at about 6:35 am on November 22 to investigate.

Police said they charged Mukon with failure to use headlamps and with driving with a suspended license. Mukon was released on a written promise to appear in court on December 5.

Two Violations

Police said they were observing traffic flow at about 10:50 am on November 25 and spotted motorist Matthew Fiorillo, 42, of 46 Brushy Hill Road driving at high speed, so they stopped him on Elm Drive to investigate.

Police said they charged Fiorillo with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving with a suspended license. Police released Fiorillo on a written promise to appear on December 11 in Danbury Superior Court.

Evading Responsibility

Police report that a New Milford man was driving a 2002 Chevrolet K-2500 pickup truck southward near 105 South Main Street, as a silver-colored Honda was traveling northward there at about 7:12 pm on November 20.

The Honda then entered the opposite lane and struck the Chevrolet, after which the Honda drove away from the scene of the accident, police said. The Chevrolet’s driver was not injured.

Police are seeking the Honda’s driver. The Honda is missing its driver-side exterior rear-view mirror. The driver is described as white man in his 20s or 30s.

Police ask anyone who knows the identity of the Honda’s driver to contact Officer Felicia Figol at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Audi TT

Police said motorist Daniel Grise, 57, of Brookfield was driving a 2010 Audi TT sports coupe eastward on Currituck Road near Hedge Meadow Lane about 7:43 am on November 19, when a deer entered the road and collided with the Audi. Grise was not injured, police said.

DUI Case

State police report that before 9 pm on November 25, they investigated a two-vehicle accident that occurred in the commuter parking on Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84.

State police said a Newtown police 2010 Ford Crown Victoria sedan patrol car driven by Newtown police officer Scott Ruszczyk, 45, was struck by motorist Timothy Schindler, 46, of Brockton, Mass., who was backing a 2004 Volvo S-80 out of a parking space in the parking lot.

There were no injuries. State police issued Schindler an infraction for unsafe backing. Newtown police arrested Schindler on a charge of driving under the influence. Newtown police released Schindler on $500 bail for a December 9 court appearance.
