Crosswalk Sign

While driving a marked Ford Crown Victoria police patrol car northward on Main Street in front of Edmond Town Hall about 6:14 am November 15, police Officer Matthew Wood was looking at two parked vehicles there, when the left exterior rear-view mirror on the police car struck a portable crosswalk sign positioned in the center of Main Street, police said.

There were no injuries. The impact caused minor damage to the mirror, police said. Police took no enforcement.

Sedan Off Road

About 3:13 pm November 24, motorist Paul G. Barnas, Jr, 20, of Clinton was driving a 2001 Nissan sedan northward on Taunton Hill Road, after which the auto went off the road and struck a stone wall at Taunton Hill Road’s intersection with Plumtrees Road, police said. There were no injuries.

Barnas told police that he had stopped at the stop sign on Taunton Hill Road and then attempted to turn left onto Plumtrees Road, but a cat ran in front of the sedan, so he swerved to avoid it, but in doing so he went off the road, police said.

Police said their investigation of skid marks at the scene indicated that Barnas did not stop at the stop sign. Police issued Barnas an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign and for traveling too fast for conditions.

Berkshire Road

About 8:44 am November 25 near 281 Berkshire Road, motorist Beatrice Kumah, 45, of Derby was driving a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder westward, when she saw an eastbound school bus slowing with its flashing yellow lights on, so Kumah slowed the Nissan, police said.

Westbound motorist Jennifer Conlon, 36, of New Haven, who was driving a 1997 Honda Accord sedan, then struck the rear end of the Nissan, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Conlon an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police gave Kumah an infraction for driving without a license.

Queen Street

About 11:48 am November 25, motorist Paula Stephan, 81, of Elizabeth Circle was driving a 2008 Audi sedan southward on Queen Street, police said.

At that time, Claudio Bachista, 35, of Asheboro, N.C., was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi delivery truck southward on Queen Street, according to police.

Simultaneously, both drivers attempted to make a right turn into the northern entrance of Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street and they collided with one another, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Stephan a written warning for making an improper turn.
