Shallowbrook Equestrian Center Hands Reins to Next Generation
SOMERS â After more than 40 years, Hal Vita Sr, founder of Shallowbrook Equestrian Center has formally announced that his daughter, accomplished rider and trainer, Sally and husband Geoff Allison, of Newtown, will be taking over ownership, management and operations of the equestrian facility which was established in 1962.
Sally and Geoff have lived in Newtown for more than 20 years.
They are involved in the Newtown community through the PTA, Newtown Scholarship Fund, Newtown Preservation Society and The Newtown Fund.
Their daughter Logan Allison, a 2007 Newtown High graduate, is currently a Sophomore at Hartwick College. Logan, an accomplished rider herself, continues to ride and show. She is the Assistant Manager of Shallowbrook Equestrian Centerâs Summer Camp.Â
Sally and Geoff Allisonâs son, Geoff, is currently a Senior at Newtown High and is the Assistant Facilities and Operations Manager at Shallowbrook specializing in construction design. Â
Sally, one of the youngest to qualify for the ASPCA Maclay Finals at Madison Square Garden at the age of 12, and once ranked fifth in the nation, started riding at the age of four and has taken students from their first lesson to state and national finals.
Shallowbrook hosted three rated horse shows and a student horse show in November. Shallowbrook will host a Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 7.
The admission-free event will include holiday-related activities and prizes for all ages, demonstrations on riding and horse care as well an opportunity to meet the staff and tour the updated facility.
Shallowbrook Equestrian Center, located in Somers, CT has been family-owned and operated since 1962. Shallowbrook offers beginner to advanced lessons to ages three and older, specializing in hunter/jumpers, dressage, and polo.
