Porto Band, Holiday Festival At The Homesteads
The Frank Porto Band will be playing a free concert at The Homesteads at Newtown on Monday, December 8. The concert will begin at 8 pm.
The concert will be the first of a month of events being hosted by the community, all open to the public free of charge. In addition to the concert of Big Band and oldies favorites by Mr Portoâs band on Monday, The Homesteads will be hosting a Hanukkah and Christmas concert on December 16 and a Hanukkah concert on December 19.
While attending any of the concerts the public will also be welcome to view the silent auction offerings of The 2nd Annual âWonderland of Treesâ Christmas Tree Silent Auction. Local businesses, groups and individuals have decorated small trees and wreaths, which are being bid on until December 18. Bidding will close at 8 pm that evening, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
Proceeds from the sale of the trees and wreaths will benefit The American Red Cross of Western Connecticut.
There will also be an all day fine arts and crafts show on December 18, with caroling, other music and refreshments offered from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm. Beginning at 5:30 that afternoon, master pianist and composer Jerry Traunig will be performing for those attending the event.
The main entrance to The Homesteads at Newtown is at 166 Mt Pleasant Road/Route 6 in Newtown. The public is welcome to stop in any time before December 18 to view and bid on the silent auction items. Call 426-8118 for additional information.
