Public Hearing On Small
Cities Grant
The Newtown Board of Selectmen plans to hold a public hearing on Monday, December 15, at 7 pm, in the meeting room at the C.H. Booth Library, Main Street, for the purpose of soliciting residents comments on application preparation and grant administration of the Townâs Small Cities Community Development Block Grants.
The town is currently administering two grants. A 2001 grant in the amount of $391,000 was used for the extension of the public sewer system to the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park on Sugar Lane. This project is close to completion. A 2002 grant in the amount of $500,000 is slated for ADA improvements at Edmond Town Hall.
Persons are invited to attend the public hearing to comment on the current program and to make suggestions for the use of future Small Cities Funds and to discuss community development and housing needs for low and moderate income persons. Written communications are welcome and should be addressed to the Office of the First Selectman, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470.
Information about the Small Cities Community Block grant is available for review in the Community Development Office in Edmond Town Hall.
