CROMWELL — Charles E. Wrinn of Newtown has been awarded the 1999 Team Connecticut Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr Wrinn, an economic development professional for more than 45 years, was honored on December 2 at the Fifth Annual Team Connecticut Rally at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Cromwell.

James Carpenter, president of the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) and vice president of First Union Bank, presented the award to Mr Wrinn, who is a former engineer with Connecticut Light & Power and founder of the Housatonic Industrial Development Corporation. In 1992 Mr Wrinn joined the Housatonic Valley Regional Economic Development Partnership and has played an advisory role on boards and committees for numerous organizations, including CEDAS, the National Association of Development Companies and the Savings Bank of Danbury.

Susan Winkler, director of real estate for the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, won the Governor’s Award at the rally.

The Team Connecticut Project Award recognizes an outstanding development project on its way toward completion. This year’s award was given to the Lake Road Generating Project in Killingly, a $490 million generating plant that will produce enough energy to power approximately 800,000 homes throughout the Northeast.
