Tag-A-Gift Drive Still Needs Toys

Toys are still needed for the Newtown Junior Women’s Club annual Tag-A-Gift program.

The program, part of the Newtown Fund’s Christmas Basket program, provides gifts anonymously for disadvantaged children in Newtown.

Some of the tags, each of which identifies a child by age, sex,  and the “wish list” item, are still available on wreaths and trees at Newtown Savings Bank in Sand Hill Plaza, Fleet Bank on Queen Street, Union Savings Bank on Church Hill Road, and the Wesley Learning Center.

After the gifts are purchased, they should be brought back to the location and left, unwrapped, with the identifying original tag attached. The green tin-punch ornament attached to the tag is a gift from the Juniors for the donors to keep.

All gifts must be turned in by Monday, December 13. The gifts will be collected by the Juniors, who will wrap them and bring them to the Depot Day collection on Friday evening, December 17, at Sandy Hook School. They will be distributed with the Christmas baskets by volunteers on Depot Day, December 18.
