A Beautiful Meadow Ruined
To the Editor:
I was disappointed to read of the recent land use decision on the Fairfield Hills campus. Town officials have unilaterally granted the High Meadow, a unique meadow habitat unspoiled by past development, to the Sandy Hook Permanent Memorial Commission.
With so many acres of developed land on the campus in dire need of reuse, a riddle that has con-founded politicians and administrators since we purchased the property, to take an unspoiled parcel and develop it seems utterly wasteful. Not only will we have a beautiful meadow ruined, but actual ruins will be allowed to persist.
I encourage the town to chose a parcel that can be redeveloped, eliminating an eyesore, instead of ru-ining something that is a treasure enjoyed daily by the citizens of Newtown.
