Ms Sokolowski

By Valerie Nezvesky, Megan Anderson, Sammie Ciaccia

In Middle Gate School we have a lot of new teachers. One of them happens too be Ms Tanya Sokolowski. Ms Sokolowski teaches first grade. She has been substituting for many different grades.

She went to Middle Gate School as a child too. Ms Sokolowski got her degree from Bridgeport University and her Master’s degree in Elementary Education in Bridgeport. She became a teacher because she loves working with children and making a difference in their lives. If she could teach another grade she would teach any other elementary school grade.

Ms Sokolowski likes teaching math and reading. She likes to work with children and helping them learn how to read. She also loves to read in her spare time. If she wasn’t teaching she would want to become a doctor in a children’s hospital.

“Teaching is a challenging job but it is very rewarding,” says Ms Sokolowski. “I think I will stay with teaching first grade next year because it is a wonderful grade to teach and I enjoy everything about it.”

She added, “If I could teach in another country I would teach in Spain because of the landscape and history.”

Ms Sokolowski’s final thoughts were, “I love teaching because I like to watch the children learn and grow.” She is just one of the many new teachers at Middle Gate School!
