Relationships Matter
To the Editor:
“Relationships matter: the currency for systemic change was trust, and trust comes through forming healthy working relationships. People, not programs, change people.” –Bruce D. Perry
Our family would like to thank the community of Newtown for its support during the last three years and last week especially during our Love Wins community day and conference. To see so many of you come out to support and learn was truly heartwarming. Programs and grants will come and will go. It is only in our support of each other, especially those most impacted by this tragedy, that we will truly be able to say “Love Wins”. We don’t have to be social workers or leaders, we just have to be in relationship. A great example of this can be found at Bagel Delight. You go into Bagel Delight. You are going to have to wait for your order. But you are going to leave feeling loved. Because Eunice under-stands relationships. She is but one of many in Newtown I can talk about.
We are going to continue to support programming to explore ways to help this community in which our daughter is buried and yet our son so loves. We hope you will come out and be a part of the solution. So that we can say our legacy is in fact love. Grants will not save us. Neither will memorials or shiny new buildings. Only love can help us now. And direct support of most impacted families.
