Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Urgently Needs Workspace

To The Editor:

The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library has been operating in its storage building and a rented POD on Old Farm Road since August when HVAC work in the library building necessitated our move.

As the months have passed, our storage area has filled up with packed boxes of books ready for our next annual sale, in addition to all of the supplies we normally keep there. Our volunteers have been increasingly squeezed into smaller and smaller areas in which to assess donated books, price them, and pack them for the sale.

And temperatures have started to drop, making working conditions for our volunteers uncomfortable and unsafe in our uninsulated metal building. Given the nature of the structure, we haven’t explored turning on the heating unit mounted from the ceiling; that could be a prohibitively costly and likely inefficient approach.

It is unlikely that the Friends will be able to return to the library for several more months.

Therefore, we are issuing an urgent plea to anyone in town who can provide us, for approximately six months and at a reasonable rate, 750 square feet of appropriate workspace with heat and access to restrooms.

If you have a space or know someone who might, please email us at boothbooksale@yahoo.com. We would be grateful for your help so we can continue our work on behalf of the Booth Library.
