John Frederick Seman
John Frederick âFred,â Seman, 90, husband of Anne Seman of Ellenton, Fla., formerly of Newtown, died December 6 after a brief illness.
Mr Seman was born in Delaware, a son of the late Edward T. and Anna (Carlson) Seman.
A resident of Newtown from 1922 to 1992, he was educated in Newtown and Mount Hermon, Mass. Mr and Mrs Seman were part of the Holcomb Oil firm until their retirement to Florida. He was a life member of the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Department, a lifetime member of the Newtown Congregational Church, and a 50-plus year member of Hiram Lodge #17 in Sandy Hook. He liked to hunt and fish, he was a member of Newtown Fish and Game Club, and he raised pheasants for the club.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his son, Richard Seman and his wife Marilyn of Southbury; a daughter-in-law, Susan Seman; nine grandchildren: Richard Seman, Jr, and his wife Kim, and their children, Connor and Shannon; Lee Hunihan and her husband Jerry, and their children, Jerry and Ryan; Sharon Tolland and her husband Sean, and their children, Brien and Jennifer; Patty Seman; Chris Seman; Kevin Seman; John Seman and his wife Virginia, and their children, John and Megan; Lisa Fitzpatrick and her husband Doug, and their children, Ellen and Ian; Cori Mascitelli and Cheryl Mascitelli; a step-sister, Eleanor Holcomb Hubbell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Fred Seman, a brother, Bill Seman, and a step-brother, Walter Holcomb.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 12, at noon, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, December 12, after 11 am.
