Local Student Attends CCM Convention

Newtown High School students James Morlath, Alana Jacoby, and Erica Carino were among more than 100 high school students from 41 cities and towns who attended the annual Convention and Exposition of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) October 9 at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Cromwell.

Students could register to participate in the daylong event for a discounted fee.

Entitled “Local Governments: New Challenges, New Solutions,” the convention featured more than a dozen workshops centered on local government issues, including “Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness: Where It Stands in Connecticut.” The keynote speaker was Cynthia Hudson, a public affairs consultant, who spoke about grassroots lobbying.
