Many Helped Make Concert A Success
Many Helped Make
Concert A Success
To The Editor:
The Newtown Choral Society played to a crowded house when they presented their holiday concert, Vivaldiâs Gloria at The Meeting House on Sunday, December 7. The response was heartening since the concert had been postponed from Saturday.
We would not have enjoyed such success without the help of many people. Most importantly, the members would like to thank the choirâs director, Mary Andreotta. Her ability to create a program that went from the sacred to the frivolous, as well as her expertise in melding all our voices, certainly added to the joy of the holiday season.
We thank Sherry Paisley and the board of The Meeting House for preserving such a music friendly venue.
Phil Crevier, our accompanist, played a big part in our success. His professionalism, his ability, his good humor, all contributed to a dynamic season of rehearsals and a terrific concert.
Shannon Hicks and Kaaren Valenta of The Newtown Bee have been a big part of our ability to attract new members as well as fill The Meeting House with as large an audience as we did.
We also would like to thank Sybil Blau and the News-Times for their terrific help.
We thank David Jurman for his many efforts on the choirâs behalf and Jonathan Pope of Newtown Middle School for his ongoing support of the choir. Thanks also go to the office and custodial staff of the middle school.
We thank Patricia and Alexander Campbell for their help in collecting tickets and giving out programs.
Miracle Graphics and Marketing of Bethel, which designed and printed our programs, did a terrific job for us and donated their services. Happily, Miracle Graphics is owned by Sara Gallo Becker, who is originally from Newtown and attended Newtown schools.
Finally, we must thank my husband, Kenneth. As usual, Kenneth lent his computer expertise, his patience, and his muscle wherever it was needed.
The Newtown Choral Society, which is beginning its 18th year, will begin rehearsals for its spring concert Wednesday, January 21. Under the direction of Mary Andreotta, we welcome new members and require only that new members have a love of singing and be willing to learn. Call me at 426-3769 if you would like to discuss joining the Newtown Choral Society.
