Elaine T. Cone
Elaine T. Cone, lovingly known as “E” or “Nan,” of Burlington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 81, with family by her side.
Born on January 12, 1944, in Bronx, New York, Elaine was the cherished daughter of the late George S. Turco (Bud) and Filomena B. Turco.
Elaine lived a remarkable life defined by grace, devotion, and creativity. After graduating from Lake Carmel High School, she worked at Lincoln Hall in Lincolndale, New York, a haven of hope and opportunity that prepared young men to thrive as engaged and productive citizens within their communities. Elaine was then employed on the Inland Wetlands Commission in Newtown. During her career transition, Elaine pursued a new path as a Legal Assistant and earned her degree from Fairfield University. In later years, she built a respected career as a Realtor, serving New Haven, Fairfield, and Hartford Counties. Her professionalism, charm, and relentless work ethic earned her admiration across every community she touched, including lending her voice and leadership as a board member of Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship —always seeking to enrich and uplift others.
For 54 beautiful years, Elaine shared her life with her beloved husband, Frederick E. Cone. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, song, and unwavering love for the beloved canines and felines they devotedly raised over the years. She gave unmeasurable love, wisdom and laughter to her daughter —Lisa D. Prinz and her husband, Roger P. Prinz — and adored her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy, Nicholas S. Costa and his wife, Rima; and Alexis J. Prinz.
Elaine is survived by her brothers: James Turco and his wife, Patty; George Turco and his wife, Karen; and her sister-in-law, Gail Ann Mueller.
Elaine’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. A gifted singer and performer, she spent many joyful years as the lead singer in bands, with Frederick as the lead guitarist, filling rooms with music and energy. She lived to sing, write, dance, and draw — expressions of her boundless creativity. With skills passed down from her mother, a seamstress, Elaine handcrafted gowns, dresses, home décor, and holiday outfits. She also crocheted hats, mittens, and booties for charity. The holidays were some of her favorite times of the year, each one brimming with her unique warmth and flair.
Known for her impeccable sense of style, Elaine was a true fashionista — always elegant, confident, and just a little sassy. She lit up every room she entered, radiating kindness and joy. She was a devout Catholic. She was also a life member of The St Jude Foundation and a proud supporter of Maltese Animal Rescue of New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown on Saturday, December 20, at 11:30 am. A celebration of Elaine’s life will follow at Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, 92 Pocono Road in Brookfield. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Elaine will be remembered always for her faith, elegance, and the loving light she brought to everyone around her.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her honor to American Maltese Association Rescue, 145 West Harcliff Circle, Lindon UT 84042 or Americanmalteserescue.org ~ Thank you.
