Choral Society Performs Program Of ‘Songs Of The Glorious Season’
Newtown Choral Society performed its winter concert, “Songs of the Glorious Season,” to a capacity crowd last weekend.
The 4 pm performance at Newtown Meeting House was directed by Mary Andreotta, who led the choir through a program that opened with Z. Randall Stroope’s “Hodie (This Day),” songs reflecting the joys of Hannukah including “Bidi Bom,” and carols from the 19th century including “Kings of Orient,” “Silent Night,” and “The Wassall Song,” among other offerings.
Choir Accompanist Phil Crevier was joined by a six-piece brass choir for the concert.
Newtown Choral Society is a community, non-audition choir founded in 1986. It performs two concerts a year and welcomes members from all area towns. The choir will begin rehearsals for its spring concert in January. New members from all area towns are welcome. There are openings in all voices.
