Army Private Brendan M. Daly has graduated from the heavy-wheeled vehicle mechanic advanced individual training course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. During the course he learned to perform unit maintenance on heavy duty vehicles, including prime movers designated as more than five tons and associated trailers, such as crane, hoist, and winch assemblies, and material handling equipment; performed maintenance and repaired systems, chassis, and assemblies pertaining to brake, ignition, engine, electrical, axle, hydraulic, transmission, suspension, wheel and steering. Brendan is the son of Dermot and Alice Daly of Newtown, and is a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School.
Newtown resident Katie Bates and Sandy Hook resident Lianne Gantert have joined the class of 2003 at St Bonaventure University, which welcomed a total of 520 freshmen this year.

Julia Mendelson and Cailyn Doherty of Newtown were named to the faculty honor roll for St Margaretâs-McTernan Schoolâs Upper School for the first trimester.

Upper and lower case letters are named âupperâ and âlowerâ because in the time when all original print had to be set in individual letters, the âupper caseâ letters were stored in the case on top of the case that stored the smaller, âlower caseâ letters.
