Of Horses And Friendship

To the Editor:

Last week’s Newtown Bee articles were the catalyst that brought many to my first open studio print sale and signing this past Saturday. To my friends and neighbors, the hardworking members of Newtown Bridle Lands, and customers, I send a heartfelt thank you. We had a great time, enjoyed some incredible holiday fare and raised much needed funds to help preserve Newtown‘s trail system.

Opening my studio served yet another purpose: it brought home to me the fact that a town is its people and their common causes and not the real estate that houses them.

The desire to protect the land and enjoy the outdoors was a common ground for Newtown natives and transplants alike when I moved here 28 years ago. The fact that so many continue to feel the same gives me hope that Newtown will continue to protect and preserve its dwindling open space.
