The 55th Annual Pancake Day
To the Editor:
The Newtown Rotary Club would like to thank all the people who came out to support our 55th An-nual Pancake Day. It was a wonderful event to celebrate the holiday season with family and friends enjoying the best pancakes and sausages, and entertainment in town! Those who arrived early enough were able the enjoy the best pancakes made by Dr Bob Grossman – our original pancake flipper for 55 consecutive years.
We would like to recognize Mr Steve Ford of the Butcher’s Best for all the sausages. Newtown Savings Bank for their continual financial support. Our servers – the Newtown Rotary Interact Club’s of the Newtown Middle School deserve many thanks. The dancers of the Lathrop School of Dance Dance Team under the direction of Miss Tamra, always bring a festive smile of joy. Tory Gozzi and the New-town Centre of Classical Ballet really held the attention of the crowd with a beautiful rendition of “The Nutcracker Suite”. Caraluzzi’s for always being generous year after year. We would like to thank Wade’s Dairy, Minuteman Press of Monroe, New Fairfield Press, Stop & Shop, Costco, ShopRite, and Stew Leonard’s, for their continuous support. A Special thanks to Sheila, Tom, Glen, Joe and staff of Newtown Edmond Town Hall. We would like to recognize all the businesses that purchased ad space on our placemats, and those that allowed us to display our posters of the event.
A very special thanks to Scudder and Sherri, and the staff at The Newtown Bee for coverage before and after the event. Most importantly, many heartfelt thanks to Nancy Crevier for covering Pancake Day as well as the beautiful articles on Newtown Rotary projects, especially the Gift of Life projects.
Most of all, a huge warm “thank you” to all the people, young and old alike, for stopping in for a pan-cake breakfast, taking pictures with Santa, enjoying the entertainment, and supporting Newtown Ro-tary and their project both local and international. It is a tradition like this with all the excitement, joy, laughter, and smiles that makes our town the special town that it is.
Please mark your calendar for next year – the first Saturday in December – for the best start of the holiday season in Newtown. We promise it will be the most wonderful community event of the season.
