Dump Truck & Power Lines
Police report that truck driver James Layden, 48, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Volvo VHD dump truck about 10:30 am on December 12, had just delivered a load of topsoil at a Georges Hill Road residence and was exiting the property when a mishap occurred.
Layden had not lowered the dumper body on the truck after dumping the soil. The raised dumper body then snagged some overhead electrical lines as the truck moved, police said.
The force exerted on the electrical lines snapped a utility pole in half. That pole had an electrical transformer attached to it. The pole and the transformer fell, with the electrical lines landing on the road. Eversource, the electric utility formerly known as CL&P, responded to the scene to make repairs.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
