Library Is Asking For Kidsâ Votes
DANBURY â During the month of January, Danbury Library will be asking kids in grades 4, 5 and 6 to join thousands of other Connecticut kids in casting their votes to select the Year 2000 Nutmeg Childrenâs Book Award.
At libraries, school media centers and classrooms across the state, children are being encouraged to read as many books as possible from ten pre-selected books and to cast their vote for their favorite. The books were selected by a committee of Connecticut childrenâs librarians, school media specialists and teachers.
The ten books and information about the Nutmeg Award are currently on display in Danbury Libraryâs Junior Department (information is also available at libraries across the state). Multiple copies of the book are available for loan.
Children may cast their ballots throughout the month of January in the Junior Library or online at the Junior Libraryâs home page (www.danbury.org/org/dpl). The winning title and author will be announced in February.
The Nutmeg Childrenâs Book Award encourages children to read quality literature. The award is jointly sponsored by the CT Library Association and the Connecticut Educational Media Association.
