They may not challenge the majesty of the world’s largest hanukkiah — the 32-foot-tall gold colored steel structure that has been lit in Central Park annually since 1998 — but a collection of Hanukkah menorahs has again taken up residence within C.H. Booth Library. An annual presentation by members of Congregation Adath Israel, this year’s display is on view within an antique display case on the second floor at 25 Main Street through the end of the month.

A brief write-up within the case explains the proper name of the candleholders. Jews around the world began celebrating the eight-day festival at sunset December 14. This year’s festival continues until sunset Monday, December 22.

The display will remain on view through the end of the month. Visitors can enjoy it during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am-8 pm; and Friday and Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm.

The library will be closing at 1 pm Wednesday, December 24, and remain closed on Thursday, December 25. It will reopen at 9:30 am Friday, December 26.

It will also close at 1 pm Wednedsay, December 31.

As seen in the foreground, a collection of dreidels and a few gold coins complement the Hanukkah menorahs being displayed this month at Booth Library.
