Wrestling Team Wins Season Opener

Newtown High School’s wrestling team defeated visiting Weston 59-24 on December 16. Half of Weston’s points came via forfeit, and Newtown piled up several pinfall victories. Results by weight division:

106 — Noah Blair Fall 1st Period over Declan Judge. It was freshman Blair’s first match

113 — Micah Houston Forfeit Win

120 — Owen Blair Technical Fall 17-1 over James Lemmis

126 — Forfeit loss to Ian Schafer

132 — Forfeit loss to Jonathan Gargiulo

138 — Ty Jorgenson Forfeit win

144 — Ryder Symes Forfeit win

150 — Bohdan Petryshyn Forfeit win

157 — Jake Fattibene 1st period fall over Tyler Rivera. First freshman match with a pin for Jake

Newtown is traveling to the George Bossi Lowell Tournament in Massachusetts this weekend. It is a two-day tournament with 90-plus teams from six New England states. NHS won it in 2023 (the first time a Connecticut team has won the tournament in over 50 years. Newtown took sixth place last year).
