Congregational Holiday Services

Christmas Eve services at Newtown Congregational Church begin at 5 pm with the Children’s Pageant presented by the Sunday School. The Rev Janice Touloukian, associate minister, will lead the service with senior minister the Rev Steven Gordon, and Lay Minister Ed Corfey will narrate the pageant.

The 7:30 pm Candlelight Worship Service will  feature Mary Andreotta with the tambourine and Katie Benson with the hand drum as the Whitechapel Consort Bellringers play “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” for the anthem. David Andreotta will speak on Christmas memories and all three ministers will be leading the service. Donald, Anicet, Julien and Gasper Heller will offer instrumental music, Soloist Tracy Mulholland will sing “Gift of Love” and Caitlin O’Handley will sing “I Wonder As I Wander.”

The Bellringers will play the introit, “Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella,” for both the 7:30 and the 11 pm candlelight services. The Senior choir will sing “Candlelight Carol” and Gordon Williams will give the Christmas memories at the late service. Spencer and Morgan Eve Swain will play violin duets and soloist Brittany McClure will sing “Jesu Bambino.” The Carols (Benson and Foss) and Hymns (Joe Kewley, Gene Marks, and Keith Roberts) will sing “Hitsuji wa nemureri” (Sheep Fast Asleep). Philip Crevier will be at the keyboards for the evening.
