Popular Children’s Books Featured In Jan. Discovery Series

BRIDGEPORT — Parents and preschoolers can spend an hour of quality time together on Saturdays during January in the “Museum Magic Hour,” at The Discovery Museum’s Wonder Workshop, 4450 Park Avenue in Bridgeport.

The story-craft series will feature books during January by some of America’s best-known children’s authors. It begins on January 8 with the seasonal story, A Snowy Day, with story and illustrations by Ezra Jack Keats. January 15 features Barbara Joosse’s Momma, Do You Love Me?, followed on January 22 by Don Freeman’s delightful tale of a bear called Corduroy. Finally, on January 29, Margaret Wise Brown explores the world of colors with Red Light, Green Light.

After each story is read, participants create a take-home craft based on the book’s theme as a memento of the morning.

The Museum Magic Hour is designed for children age 2½ to 5, accompanied by an adult. Each session runs from 10:30 to 11:30 am and costs $12. Reservations are required, and space is limited.

The Discovery Museum and its Wonder Workshop are located one mile south of Exit 47 off the Merritt Parkway. Free staffed parking is available adjacent to the building.

For more information and reservations, call 203/372-3521 extension 129.
