A Raw Deal?
To The Editor:
Have you heard the expression, “a raw deal?”
The homeowners on Covered Bridge Road and Hillcrest Drive are getting a raw deal. Not only did they have to accept a bankrupt apartment complex, but now, a gas station/convenience store on the corner of Covered Bridge Road and Route 25 at exit 9, as well as the opening up of what was once an unused access way at the dead end of Hillcrest Drive leading to the back of the old McGuire’s Ale House/Taunton Tavern property.
The access way will be opened in a possibly “gated” fashion for a 67 unit apartment complex to be built on the McGuire’s Ale House property as allowed under Connecticut General Statute 8-30g. If you do not have the time to see for yourself the topography of Hillcrest Drive, use Google maps street view and earth view to see the narrow, steep, winding, dead end nature of the road. The road cannot handle that sort of traffic.
The homeowners there are having to absorb too much. It is wrong. Where will this happen next?
